Over two months in northern India, Lens & Lumen produced a docu-poetic short film exploring the relationship Hindi people have with life and death.

Shot across Ladakh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Varanasi, India Unveiled moves between landscape and ritual, silence and ceremony, a film that doesn't attempt to explain India so much as feel it. The vastness of the country is the point. The discomfort of the unfamiliar is the entry point.

Described by festival judges as "a near-visceral experience" with "exceptional cinematography" that evoked the feeling of a NatGeo documentary, the film captures what draws people to India in the first place, the proximity of life and death, the sensory overload of its streets, and the quiet courage it takes to sit with a place you don't fully understand.

India Unveiled placed third at the 2024 Be Still Media Festival.
